Breaking News: Man Charged in Connection to Rutherford Break-Ins

A 29-year-old man has been charged and will face court today over a series of alleged break and enter offences in Rutherford.
Police from Port-Stephens Hunter Police District began investigating multiple break-ins reported between July 21 and August 5, 2024, at an over 55’s lifestyle village on Waterworks Road.
On August 11, 2024, the investigation expanded to include a break-in at a home on Ballard Street, Maitland, where a wallet, keys, and cards were allegedly stolen.
Following extensive inquiries, a search warrant was executed on August 18, 2024, at a home on the New England Highway, Rutherford. Police seized several items believed to have been stolen during the incidents.
The man was arrested yesterday evening at around 6:20 PM in Rutherford and taken to Maitland Police Station. He has been charged with multiple counts of aggravated break and enter, including armed robbery.
The accused has been refused bail and is set to appear before Maitland Local Court today.
