A dramatic late-night hit-and-run in Cardiff has landed a 24-year-old man behind bars, facing a slew of serious charges, including attempted murder.
It all unfolded around 1:20 AM on Friday (17 January) when emergency services rushed to Harrison Street after a 36-year-old man was found injured on the road. Paramedics treated the victim at the scene before transporting him to John Hunter Hospital, where he remains in care.
Police investigations revealed the man had been struck by a vehicle that fled the scene. With help from the Crash Investigation Unit, officers tracked down the suspected vehicle on Devon Street, Wallsend. The car was seized for forensic testing, and its alleged driver was arrested.

The 24-year-old suspect was taken to Waratah Police Station and charged with:
- Attempted murder
- Dangerous driving causing grievous bodily harm
- Failing to stop and assist after impact
- Driving through a red light
- Driving with a suspended license
- Assault causing actual bodily harm
Police claim the younger man assaulted the victim before using the vehicle as a weapon and fleeing the scene.
The accused was refused bail and is set to face Parramatta Local Court today.
