Police Smash Into Newcastle Apartment to Stop Brutal Assault
Police Intervene in Newcastle East Assault, Arrest Made
A man has been arrested following an alleged assault at a Newcastle East apartment this afternoon.
Around 2:10 pm today (Friday, 16 August 2024), emergency services were alerted to a concern for welfare at a property on Nobbys Road. Officers from the Newcastle City Police District responded promptly and were forced to break into the apartment, where they intervened in an ongoing assault.
A 46-year-old man was found with head lacerations and was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics. He was then transported to John Hunter Hospital for further treatment of injuries that are believed to be non-life-threatening.
An 18-year-old man was arrested at the scene and taken to Newcastle Police Station, where he is assisting police with their inquiries.
