At 3:56 PM this afternoon, emergency services responded to a serious motor vehicle collision on Old Maitland Road at Bishops Bridge. A single-vehicle incident occurred when a utility left the roadway and collided with a tree, trapping the driver by compression of the legs.
The vehicle was stabilized, and in collaboration with Cessnock District Rescue and NSW Ambulance Rescue personnel, hydraulic rescue tools were used to extricate the occupant. Once freed, the driver was transported to the hospital for further assessment and treatment.
Emergency response teams on scene also included the NSW Rural Fire Service and NSW Police Force.
