Teen Charged After Hunter Valley Break-In Spree
A 14-year-old boy has been charged following multiple alleged attempted break-ins and robbery incidents in Hunter Valley overnight.
Between 2 a.m. and 4 a.m. on Thursday, 22 August 2024, police received several reports of suspicious activity at properties on Pioneer Road, Casey Drive, Nelson Drive, and Dominion Avenue in Hunterview.
Officers from the Hunter Valley Police District promptly attended the scene and began an investigation into the incidents. Around 4 a.m., police located a group of five individuals near the intersection of Bridgeman Road and Blaxland Avenue in Singleton. When officers approached, the group allegedly attempted to flee.
The 14-year-old was arrested and taken to Singleton Police Station, where he was charged with several offences, including two counts of entering a building or land with intent to commit an indictable offence, aggravated break and enter, being carried in a conveyance taken without the owner’s consent, and stealing property from a dwelling.
Additionally, the boy was charged with two outstanding warrants related to previous break and enter and robbery incidents. He was refused bail and is set to appear before a Children’s Court today, Friday, 23 August 2024.
