Late last night, the Gwandalan Rural Fire Brigade responded to a boat fire off the shore of Kullaroo Road in Summerland Point around 11 p.m. The fire, which occurred on Lake Macquarie, required the assistance of the Lake Macquarie Fire Boat to extinguish the flames.
Several other crews, including Wallarah Rural Fire Brigade, Lake Munmorah Rural Fire Brigade, and Fire and Rescue NSW Station 292 Doyalson, also joined the effort.
The yacht involved in the incident has since sunk but remains attached to its mooring. Boaters in the area are urged to exercise caution.
