1.9 Million Dollar Cooper St Upgrade Total Eyesore.

Cessnock council should hang their heads in shame with the finished cooper st upgrade the council was given a 950,000k dollar for dollar grant to improve the Cessnock CBD and best we could do was some pavers and a painted roundabout…

Weather all the money was spent on this project where not sure but the project was months behind schedule, and Ian Olsen has said all the money had been spent leaving nothing for future improvements.

As a result of this project many already struggling bussiness have been impacted on hard and there is no improvement to parking or congestion. There is just zero benefit to business in the area.

The painted roundabout already has tire marks all over it and just looks cheap and nasty and council needs to be held accountable. What was the final cost, where did all the money go?

Ian Olsen said he was very dissapointed with the money spent on this with very little outcome. He also said the project has left the budget dry for future upgrades of the Cessnock CBD

Here’s what few other people had to say.

Jan Alexander I was so looking forward to drawing some positives out of the beautification project ……Today I happened to drive from IGA carpark side to realise woohoo! I can turn left toward Coles. Up a mighty rise, slowly forward to realise we have a new painted round a bout?? & down another mighty drop on the other side! I’m still trying to see a positive improvement 😔 Whatever were they thinking? It’s the exact same layout! …..just built up high & slower? Maybe the intention was good…..but it’s certainly no major improvement 😔 Pretty disappointing.

Shell Bamford I can’t believe when given this type of project, they stuffed up so bad. The idea that won was to replace like for like, but with a hazardous paving job and a painted on round about. Damn council is almost as useful as the new roundabout lol

Sandra Perkins It’s not a roundabout as such, just a big painted circle, a total eyesore, it was supposed to be a beautification project, but it’s far from it. Mismatched, uneven pavers, trip hazards etc. I want to see something positive about it but…..😔
