60% Net Zero Needs $400 Billion More, Says Business Council

The Business Council of Australia has just announced we need another $400 billion to hit their magical 60% “Net Zero” target. That’s on top of all the billions we’ve already thrown at this green fantasy. And when some bureaucrat agency pipes up that we need more money for Net Zero, you can rest assured Mr. 34% Albo and his henchmen will open the cheque book and hand over your money, because apparently they hold the sacred Net Zero Mandate.

All of this rests on the big lie that renewable energy is the cheapest form of power. Cue the lefties: “But my last bill was almost zero, thanks to solar and a battery!” Really? You didn’t get free power — you forked out $25,000 to $40,000 upfront for a system. By the time it “pays for itself,” you’ll be replacing batteries and panels, if they don’t catch fire first — because we all know what happens to lithium as it ages.

Here’s the truth: Australia’s entire electricity demand — 273 terawatt hours a year — could be met with just 21 coal plants at 2,000 MW each. And with $400 billion, you could build 30–40 brand-new coal plants — more than enough to power the nation, plus some extra for backup. Simple, cheap, reliable, and it doesn’t require chasing unicorns.

But no — the bureaucrats and green billionaires keep pushing Net Zero madness, selling the fairy tale that “renewables are cheaper and better for the environment.” Both are false. And don’t kid yourself: Mike Cannon-Brookes isn’t giving you cheap power. If they generate it cheaply, they’ll store it and only release it when the price is high, and guess who pays? You — the consumer.

So here’s the reality: $400 billion more for 60% Net Zero could instead buy real, reliable energy today. But instead, the government is betting your wallet on fairy tales, and you’ll be the one paying the price.
