A young boy has been rushed to hospital after a terrifying accident on the Mid North Coast.
Around 3:45pm on Wednesday 28 January, a Westpac Rescue Helicopter was tasked by NSW Ambulance to Hat Head, north of Kempsey.
The 9-year-old suffered serious lower leg injuries after jumping from a tree into shallow water. NSW Ambulance paramedics and the helicopter’s critical care medical team treated the boy at the scene before he was airlifted to John Hunter Hospital for further treatment.
A stark reminder of how quickly a summer adventure can turn into an emergency.
