Emergency services were called to Woodberry around 8:00pm last night after a dirt bike rider crashed into a pole.
According to Key News Newcastle, the motorcycle was seen travelling along Kingstown Road. A comment on social media has alleged the rider may have been struck by a police vehicle before the crash, though this has not been verified.
The male rider, believed to be in his 30s, was treated by paramedics at the scene before being transported to hospital.
NSW Police have not confirmed any collision involving their vehicles and have yet to release an official statement.
