Police Appeal for Information Following Carjacking in Rutherford
RUTHERFORD, 26 May 2024 – Police are seeking public assistance after a carjacking incident occurred early this morning on Racecourse Road.
Around 6:10 am, a man had left his Mercedes Benz 4WD in the driveway of a business when an unknown woman entered the vehicle. While the owner attempted to remove her, an unidentified man, armed with a firearm, instructed him to leave the car. The woman then drove away in the Mercedes, and the armed man left in a Nissan Skyline sedan.
The vehicle owner was unharmed and promptly contacted the Port Stephens Hunter Police District. Officers arrived shortly after to begin their investigation.
Authorities are searching for a 2012-model silver Mercedes Benz, registration ETZ-43F, and a 1990-model white Nissan Skyline, registration EOW-76F.
Police urge anyone who witnessed the incident or has information to come forward. If the vehicles are sighted, the public is advised not to approach but to call Triple Zero (000) immediately.
