On Tuesday, October 3, 2023, at approximately 3:50 PM, emergency services rushed to Monterey Circuit, Hunterview, responding to a reported grassfire.Following this incident, a comprehensive investigation was initiated by officers from the Hunter Valley Police District, along with the State Crime Command’s Financial Crime Squad’s Arson Unit, operating under the codename Strike Force Tronto.Yesterday, at around 3:45 PM, on October 10, 2023, a 23-year-old individual was taken into custody by law enforcement. Subsequently, he has been formally charged with the offenses of intentionally causing the fire and displaying recklessness as to its spread.The accused, a resident of Singleton, was denied bail and is scheduled to make his first appearance before the Scone Local Court today, Wednesday, October 11, 2023.This case remains under active investigation, with ongoing inquiries continuing as part of Strike Force Tronto.
