A local Cessnock resident has spoken out after surviving a terrifying attempted carjacking earlier today on Vincent St. The driver was reportedly targeted by a stranger who smashed the driver’s window and assaulted the driver in an attempt to steal the vehicle.
Thankfully, several members of the public stepped in to help, potentially preventing the situation from becoming far worse.
“Thank you to the people who stopped to help me after I was assaulted. I’m really grateful—it couldn’t have come at a worse time, especially after recently losing my job and struggling,” the victim shared in a post to a local community group.
Cessnock Police are now investigating the incident. Anyone with information or who can identify the man pictured above is urged to contact Cessnock Local Police.
