A 30-year-old man has been charged following an alleged stabbing in Belmont on Wednesday afternoon.
Emergency services were called to Railway Parade just after 4pm, where officers from the Lake Macquarie Police District found a 40-year-old man suffering a stab wound to the upper body.
NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the man at the scene before taking him to John Hunter Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
Police established a crime scene and launched an investigation. The 30-year-old alleged offender was arrested at the scene and taken to Belmont Hospital for treatment of minor injuries before being transferred to Belmont Police Station.
He was charged with wounding a person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and was refused bail to appear before Bail Division Court 2 today.
