Stargazers across the Hunter are in for a rare celestial show, with a total lunar eclipse – or “Blood Moon” – set to appear in the early hours of Monday morning.
The eclipse will begin late Sunday night, with the total phase starting at around 3:30 am AEST. At its peak, just after 4:10 am, the moon will take on a striking red glow as it passes through Earth’s shadow. The full totality will last for about 82 minutes, before the moon gradually returns to its usual brightness by dawn.
