Man Charged After Alleged Child Approach at Umina Beach
A man has been charged following an alleged child approach on the Central Coast this morning.
About 8.30am on Tuesday 3 February 2026, a young girl was riding her bicycle along Ocean Beach Road, Umina Beach, when she allegedly noticed a man following her.
Police say the child called out for help, prompting a passer-by to stop their vehicle and intervene. The man was chased from the area before police were notified.
Officers attached to Brisbane Water Police District conducted patrols and located the man a short time later.
A 44-year-old man was arrested and taken to Gosford Police Station, where he was charged with:
- Harass or intimidate a school student attending school
- Stalk or intimidate with intent to cause fear of physical harm
- Contravene a prohibition order
- Fail to comply with reporting obligations
He was refused bail and is due to appear before Bail Division Court 6 on Wednesday 4 February 2026.
