A 53-year-old man allegedly abducted in a brazen early-morning attack has been rescued after a major police operation in Sydney’s north-west.
Detectives from the NSW Police Force Robbery & Serious Crime Squad stormed a property in Dural late this morning, recovering the hostage and arresting a 16-year-old boy.
🚨 Abducted Outside Tobacconist
Police allege the nightmare began about 6.15am on Tuesday when the man was approached outside a tobacconist on Meadows Road in Mt Pritchard.
Four masked men wearing balaclavas allegedly assaulted him before forcing him into a Hyundai hatchback and fleeing the scene.
Officers from Fairfield Police Area Command were alerted, triggering an urgent response.
🎯 Strike Force Martinook Launched
The State Crime Command’s Robbery & Serious Crime Squad established Strike Force Martinook, launching a covert operation to track down the victim.
At around 10.30am today (Thursday), strike force detectives — backed by the elite Tactical Operations Unit — swooped on a property in Dural.
Inside, they located the missing 53-year-old man alive.
🏥 Victim Stable, Teen in Custody
NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the man at the scene before transporting him to hospital in a stable condition.
A 16-year-old male was arrested and taken to Castle Hill Police Station, where investigations are continuing.
Police say inquiries under Strike Force Martinook remain ongoing, with further arrests not ruled out.
Authorities have asked media at the scene to blur any plain-clothed officers and avoid filming vehicles outside the property.
This is a developing story.
