Hunter Valley Highway Patrol officers have taken a 57-year-old truck driver off the road after he was caught almost four times the legal alcohol limit while behind the wheel of a 16-tonne heavy vehicle on the Pacific Highway at Bulahdelah.
The driver, heading towards Brisbane, was stopped around 10:44am Thursday (25 September 2025) as part of Operation Crossroads. A roadside breath test returned a positive result, and further testing at Bulahdelah Police Station showed a staggering reading of 0.176.
Police also discovered the man had no work diary in his possession.
He was arrested, charged with High Range PCA, and suspended from driving immediately, with a court date set for Forster Local Court. Penalty notices were also issued for the diary breaches.
