Police have renewed their appeal for information in the decades-old disappearance and suspected murder of 16-year-old Gordana Kotevski, calling on two anonymous witnesses to come forward as the investigation intensifies.

Detectives from NSW Police Force’s Strike Force Bambil say the men previously contacted authorities in the mid-1990s with information about the case, but did so anonymously and have never been formally identified.

Gordana was last seen on the evening of 24 November 1994 on Powell Street, Charlestown, as she walked from Charlestown Square Shopping Centre towards her aunt’s home. Witnesses reported she was forced into a vehicle shortly after 9pm.

Despite extensive investigations at the time and in the years since, she has never been found. A 2003 coronial inquest later concluded she was deceased, most likely as a result of foul play.

In 2025, Strike Force Bambil was established to re-examine the circumstances surrounding her disappearance, with detectives recently conducting searches at properties in Edgeworth and West Wallsend. Further inquiries are ongoing.

Police are now focusing on two key anonymous calls:

Investigators say both callers may still hold critical information and are urging them, or anyone who knows their identity, to come forward.

A $1 million reward remains in place for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Belmont detectives at SFBambil@police.nsw.gov.au or call 02 4922 8774.
