A shocking early morning stabbing has rocked the quiet suburb of Woy Woy, with a 21-year-old man now facing serious charges after a woman was found with multiple stab wounds.
Emergency services rushed to Bowden Road just after 5:15am today (Monday, June 16) after frantic calls reported a violent attack. On arrival, police discovered a 49-year-old woman suffering serious injuries from an alleged knife attack.
Paramedics treated her at the scene before she was rushed to Gosford Hospital. Due to the severity of her wounds, she was later airlifted to Royal North Shore Hospital in critical condition.
Just two hours after the incident, police tracked down a suspect β a 21-year-old man β at the Parramatta bus station. He was swiftly arrested and taken to Parramatta Police Station, where he was charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and armed with intent to commit an indictable offence.
Authorities have confirmed the pair knew each other, but the motive behind the alleged stabbing remains under investigation.
The accused has been refused bail and will face Parramatta Local Court tomorrow (Tuesday, June 17).
