A campaign for safety upgrades at the Bucketts Way and Medowie Road intersections is gaining momentum, with residents calling for action before the completion of the M1 Hexham Overpass.
Booral resident Leah Veksins has been collecting signatures for a petition urging the government to improve the Pacific Highway intersections, which locals say have been a long-standing safety concern.
The campaign comes as work on the M1 Hexham Overpass moves closer to completion, with concerns the existing intersections will face increased pressure once the major project opens.
Regular users of Bucketts Way and Medowie Road have long raised concerns about congestion and safety issues at the intersections, with calls for upgrades to be prioritised.
Residents supporting the campaign say the time for action is now, before problems increase once traffic changes following the completion of the overpass.
Leah has been thanked by locals for her efforts in raising awareness and gathering community support for the petition.
The petition calling for safer Pacific Highway intersections continues to collect signatures. Congradulations to Leah for keeping the issue in the spotlight.
