CCTV Released of Car Linked to Suspicious Newcastle Fire – Police Urgently Want Info
Newcastle detectives have released CCTV footage of a car believed to be connected to a suspicious fire in Wickham last month.
Just after midnight on Friday, 23 January, emergency services were called to a business on Albert Street after smoke was seen pouring from the building. Firefighters quickly contained the blaze on the ground floor, but police quickly established a crime scene.
The investigation, led by Strike Force Halesworth, links the fire to a similar suspicious blaze at the same premises on 20 January. CCTV earlier identified two men in hooded jumpers near the scene, and police are now looking for a light-coloured, older-model Toyota Corolla hatchback seen in the area.
Police believe the vehicle’s driver or passengers may hold key information. Anyone who can identify the car or its occupants is urged to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
If you were in Wickham that night, your tip could help crack the case.
