Cessnock Hospital Redevelopment Unveils Detailed Design Plans
The Cessnock Hospital redevelopment project has reached a major milestone with the completion of its schematic designs, revealing expanded and modernized healthcare facilities. This next phase of planning outlines a new, two-level acute services building that will feature an upgraded emergency department, expanded inpatient wards with single and double rooms (each with ensuite bathrooms), a state-of-the-art medical imaging service, and dedicated day surgery spaces.
The NSW Government’s 2024-25 Budget recently allocated an additional $26.5 million to the redevelopment, bringing total funding to $138 million. This investment will support the addition of essential facilities, including an operating theatre, a procedure room, a sterilizing services unit, and an advanced pharmacy.
Construction is set to begin in 2025, following the selection of the main works contractor. In the meantime, the Cessnock community is invited to preview the new designs at upcoming public displays:
- Tuesday, 12 November 2024: 10 am – 12 pm at Cessnock Hospital main foyer
- Wednesday, 13 November 2024: 9 am – 1 pm at Cessnock Village Shopping Centre
Community members and hospital staff are encouraged to view the designs and provide feedback. Those unable to attend can direct questions or comments to the project team via email at HI-Cessnock@health.nsw.gov.au.
