Residents of Cessnock, are bracing for a sweltering Saturday as temperatures are forecast to soar to a record-breaking 43 degrees Celsius according to Meteorology.com.au the current record for the hottest December day in Cessnock was set in 2004 when the mercury reached 42.5 degrees Celsius.
The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a heatwave warning for the region, urging residents to take precautions to stay cool and safe.
