A concerned Lake Macquarie resident has taken to social media after allegedly witnessing dangerous driving behaviour along Munibung Road on Tuesday afternoon.

The resident claims that around 4.45pm, a young female driver and her passenger were seen engaging in a series of reckless acts while travelling from Cardiff through to Boolaroo.

According to the post, the driver was allegedly blowing up pink balloons while behind the wheel, using a mobile phone, and swerving across lanes, including crossing double white lines.

The witness said the behaviour continued from near Cardiff RSL to the Costco precinct, where they eventually turned off.

The resident described the incident as an “act of stupidity” and warned that such behaviour could have devastating consequences.

“You will soon kill yourself or someone else,” the post stated.

The community member has vowed to continue posting images or videos of dangerous driving incidents they witness, arguing that motorists who engage in such behaviour should not hold a driver’s licence.

The post also urged parents, friends, relatives and employers of young drivers to educate them about the potentially fatal consequences of distracted and reckless driving.

NSW motorists are reminded that using a mobile phone while driving and failing to maintain proper control of a vehicle can result in significant fines, demerit points and, in serious cases, criminal charges.
