In a demonstration of solidarity, hundreds are anticipated to participate in the Walk 4 Wollombi Road event scheduled for Saturday, November 25, 2023. The march, set to commence at 11 am, will kick off at 157 Wollombi Road in Cessnock, adjacent to St Patrick’s School and Aldi, with the destination being 409 Wollombi Road in Bellbird at the Bellbird Workers Club.
The initiative is a firm stance against the proposed four-lane expansion of Wollombi Road, as participants aim to raise awareness and voice their opposition. The route, spanning from Cessnock to Bellbird, serves as a symbolic representation of the community’s commitment to preserving the road in its current state.
Walkers will have the chance to rejuvenate at the Bellbird Workers Club, where refreshments and coffee will be available at the Cafe Bar & Bistro.
Notably, the event organizers are calling for volunteers to support the cause actively. Those interested in contributing on the day are encouraged to reach out via Facebook, private message, or email at savewollombiroad@gmail.com.
With 31 comments and 41 shares on the event’s platform, it’s evident that the community is rallying together to save Wollombi Road.
