Here’s a news-style update:

Construction has officially commenced on a new co-located preschool, primary school and high school at Huntlee, with the education precinct set to welcome students from the first day of Term 1, 2028.

Cessnock MP Clayton Barr announced the milestone, describing it as the result of years of advocacy by local families and the community.

Mr Barr said the push for a school at Huntlee first began in 2012 and thanked parents who campaigned alongside him to secure the project.

The new education precinct is being delivered by the Minns Labor Government and is designed to cater for the rapidly growing Huntlee community.

Mr Barr said while construction getting underway was a significant achievement, more work remained to ensure local students had access to quality educational facilities and teaching staff into the future.

He pledged to continue working with NSW Premier Chris Minns to deliver improved schools and additional teachers for the region.

The new Huntlee schools are expected to open to students at the beginning of the 2028 school year.
