A dramatic police chase near Coffs Harbour has led to a critical incident investigation. Around 7:45 AM today, officers tried to stop a speeding vehicle on the Pacific Highway at Tucabia, but the driver refused to pull over. The pursuit was called off due to dangerous driving, only to be re-initiated shortly after. The chase ended in chaos when the car made a U-turn at Dirty Creek, colliding with an oncoming truck.
The 19-year-old driver of the car is in critical condition at Coffs Harbour Hospital, while the 50-year-old truck driver, though uninjured, was taken to Grafton Hospital for mandatory testing. A crime scene has been established, and the Crash Investigation Unit is on the case.
