Federal MP Dan Repacholi has taken to the stage in a charity “Dancing with the Stars – Dance for Cancer” event, helping raise more than $230,000 for Cancer Council NSW.

Repacholi described the experience as months of hard work and humour, admitting he had “not one but two left feet” before making it through the performance.

For his routine, he was persuaded to dance to Splish Splash (I Was Taking a Bath), with the performance ending in a comedic stage moment that drew strong audience reaction on the night.

The event brought together a range of community “Stars”, with organisers praising the collective effort that helped push fundraising totals past $230,000 for cancer research and support services.

Among the award recipients on the night was Piper Butcher, who was recognised for her standout performance.

Repacholi also acknowledged the sponsors who supported his participation, including Port of Newcastle, CropLife Australia, The Mutual Bank, Minerals Council of Australia, and CK Signcoe among others.

He gave special thanks to his dance instructor Caitlin Boyd, praising her patience and effort throughout rehearsals and the performance.

Repacholi said he would now be “retiring undefeated from competitive dancing” following the charity event.
