A frantic search is underway after a driver was swept away in raging floodwaters on the NSW North Coast.
Emergency crews rushed to Wild Cattle Creek Bridge, near Dorrigo, around 2:20 PM today (Friday, March 7, 2025), after reports a 4WD had been washed off the bridge while attempting to cross. The male driver managed to escape the vehicle and cling to a tree branch, desperately holding on about 30 meters from the riverbank.
Police from Coffs/Clarence PD made contact with the man, but tragedy struck just after 3 PM when the raging waters ripped him away. Witnesses saw him disappear beneath the surface, and he has not been seen since.
Authorities, with help from SES crews, have begun searching the area and are now waiting for aerial support to expand the search.
⚠️ Flood warning: Officials are urging the public to avoid flooded roads and never attempt to drive through floodwaters—it’s just not worth the risk.
