A man in his 50s has been airlifted to hospital after suffering serious injuries in a dirt bike crash on a property near Muswellbrook on Saturday afternoon.

The Westpac Rescue Helicopter was tasked by NSW Ambulance to the incident northeast of Muswellbrook in the Hunter Valley about 3.30pm.

NSW Ambulance paramedics and the helicopter’s critical care medical team treated the rider for chest and pelvis injuries before he was airlifted to John Hunter Hospital for further treatment.

The circumstances surrounding the crash have not been disclosed.
