Man charged over alleged domestic violence murder in Rutherford
A 31-year-old man has been charged following the alleged domestic violence murder of a 20-year-old woman in Rutherford this morning.
Emergency services were called to a home on Unicomb Close around 4:45 am after reports of an assault. Police found the woman unresponsive with serious facial injuries. NSW Ambulance paramedics treated her at the scene, but she could not be revived.
A crime scene was established, and detectives launched Strike Force Clarbeni to investigate. The man, known to the victim, was arrested at the scene and taken to Maitland Police Station.
He has been charged with murder and domestic violence offences and was refused bail. He is due to appear before Local Court 2 Bail Division tomorrow, Tuesday 19 August.
