News Alert: Football Club Mourns the Loss of Player Following Head Injury

A football player from Aberglasslyn RLFC has passed away in the hospital after sustaining a severe head injury over the weekend. The club, devastated by the loss, has paid tribute to the player in a heartfelt post on their social media account.

In a somber message, Aberglasslyn RLFC shared, “As the sun was setting over Mckeachies Oval yesterday afternoon, we remember you 💔. As we lay to rest our #8 jerseys for the remainder of the season in your honor, we remember you as a friend, a brother, a father, and simply one of the kindest souls in our club.”

Out of respect for the grieving family’s privacy, the player’s identity will be protected for now, allowing them time to cope with the immense loss they have suffered. The entire community is urged to support and stand with the player’s family during this difficult period.

The Aberglasslyn RLFC expressed their gratitude to Tooheys Newcastle & Hunter Community Rugby League and the community at large for their unwavering support, which has been invaluable during this challenging time. The club appreciates the compassion and assistance offered to their staff and players.
