A former Hunter police officer has been charged after two extendable batons were allegedly found during a search warrant at a Fletcher home.

Police executed the warrant at a property on Kingfisher Street on 7 January 2026, where officers allegedly seized two police-issued extendable batons.

The 55-year-old man was subsequently charged with possessing or using a prohibited weapon without a permit.

He is scheduled to appear before Newcastle Local Court on 23 July 2026.
