A former civilian employee of the NSW Police Force has been charged following an investigation in Lake Macquarie.

Officers from Lake Macquarie Police District executed a search warrant at a Cameron Park home about 7.15am on Thursday (28 May 2026).

During the search, detectives allegedly located and seized an electronic device containing child abuse material.

A 39-year-old man, who previously worked for NSW Police for around three months between October 2019 and January 2020, was arrested at the scene.

He was taken to Belmont Police Station and charged with possessing child abuse material.

He was refused bail and is due to appear before Bail Division Local Court 2 on Friday 29 May 2026.
