Emergency crews have confirmed that four homes have been destroyed as a fast-moving bushfire ripped through bushland near Bulahdelah on the NSW Mid North Coast. The blaze, fuelled by scorching heat and powerful winds, escalated rapidly as temperatures soared into the high 30s and dry conditions intensified across the region.
The NSW Rural Fire Service says dozens of firefighters worked through the morning to protect properties as unpredictable wind gusts pushed flames toward residential areas. Several sheds and outbuildings have also been lost, with damage assessments still underway.
Authorities warn conditions remain extremely volatile, with strong winds and the threat of dry lightning expected to complicate containment efforts throughout the afternoon. Residents in surrounding communities are urged to stay alert, follow RFS updates, and be prepared to leave if conditions deteriorate.
