Australians sending and receiving parcels are set to pay more from Monday, with Australia Post announcing a sharp increase to its fuel surcharge amid rising petrol and diesel prices.
The surcharge applied across both Australia Post and StarTrack courier services will jump from 4.8 per cent to 12 per cent—more than doubling current rates.
In a statement, the postal giant said the increase was “a necessary change to help manage costs in a challenging environment,” pointing to ongoing pressure from higher fuel prices.
The move is expected to flow through to businesses and everyday customers, potentially pushing up the cost of online shopping deliveries nationwide.
