A dramatic rescue unfolded in the Hunter Valley on Sunday afternoon after a glider accident in Ravensworth. Around 4:30pm, NSW Ambulance tasked a Westpac Rescue Helicopter to the scene following reports of a man in his 60s being injured during the incident.
Emergency crews rushed to the site, where the helicopter’s critical care medical team provided urgent treatment on scene. After stabilising the man, he was carefully airlifted to John Hunter Hospital for further medical care.
Authorities have not released details about how the accident occurred, but emergency services described the response as swift and coordinated. The incident serves as a reminder of the risks associated with recreational aviation and the importance of rapid emergency intervention.
Local residents reported hearing the helicopter and seeing the rescue teams in action, highlighting the rare but serious nature of glider accidents in the region. NSW Ambulance and the Westpac Rescue Helicopter crews continue to be on standby for emergencies across the Hunter Valley.
