A quiet morning in Glendale has been shattered by a violent alleged home invasion that’s left one man fighting serious injuries.
Emergency services rushed to a home on Manuel Street about 7:30am on Saturday (March 21) following reports of a break-in turned violent.
Police say a 34-year-old man was inside the home when a 51-year-old man—known to him—allegedly forced entry and attacked him with a hammer.
The victim suffered serious head injuries and was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to hospital in a serious condition.
Officers from Lake Macquarie Police District secured the scene, where a hammer was seized and will undergo forensic testing.
A crime scene was quickly established as detectives launched an investigation.
A short time later, police tracked down and arrested a 51-year-old man on nearby Clare Street. He was taken to Toronto Police Station, where inquiries remain ongoing.
