Police are calling on the public for information after a Rottweiler tragically died following an alleged assault in Newcastle.
The dog’s owner had tied the pet to a tree on Steel Street, Newcastle West, around 12pm Friday (3 Oct) while he visited a nearby shopping centre. Just 15 minutes later, he returned to find the dog suffering serious injuries.
Despite urgent veterinary care, the dog had to be euthanized due to the severity of its injuries.
Investigators believe a group of people may have attacked the dog while it was tied up. A crime scene has been established and police are urging anyone with information to come forward.
