Traffic Response Group Targets North Region for Alcohol and Drug Driving, May 16-20, 2024
The Traffic Response Group (TRG), in collaboration with the Operations Planning Unit, deployed 13 additional Highway Patrol officers and vehicles to the Hunter Valley, Lake Macquarie, Newcastle City, and Port Stephens Hunter Police Districts. This high-profile operation, focused on combating alcohol and drug-impaired driving, spanned five days.
During the operation, officers conducted 1,418 breath tests, resulting in two mid-range alcohol detections. Additionally, 725 drug tests were administered, with 39 yielding positive results pending further laboratory confirmation.
