A wild midnight crash in Abermain has left seven people injured, including two young girls, after an out-of-control driver allegedly sped towards a crowd before slamming into parked cars and bystanders.
Emergency crews rushed to Bromage Road just after 12 AM Sunday, where they found a blue 2003 Subaru Liberty AWD had plowed into two parked vehicles—a white LDV and a champagne-colored Mazda 6—before hitting a group of people.
A witness told MHV NEWS the 18-year-old driver had been warned to leave after nearly clipping a vehicle. Instead of driving away, he allegedly sped up the road, turned around, and came back at a terrifying 120km/h. Witnesses claim he then pulled the handbrake, losing control and smashing into the group.
NSW Ambulance paramedics treated multiple victims, with one airlifted to John Hunter Hospital. An eight-year-old girl remains in hospital with suspected internal injuries, while a 10-year-old girl was treated for minor injuries and has since been released. Two women, aged 25 and 31, are still in hospital, with the older woman suffering a head injury. Two men, aged 24 and 25, were taken to hospital—the younger man with a fractured leg, while the older man, treated for a foot injury, has been released. The 18-year-old driver suffered facial injuries and remains in hospital under police guard.
In a shocking new twist, witnesses claim the driver was pulled from the wreck and bashed by furious bystanders before emergency services arrived. Police have not confirmed the alleged attack but say they are investigating all aspects of the crash.
