Emergency services were called to a house fire in Gilleston Heights shortly after 5 AM this morning. The two-story home was engulfed in flames upon arrival, but fortunately, all residents had self-evacuated.
Crews were met with concerns for pets still inside the home. Firefighters successfully rescued a cat and a dog, bringing relief to the residents. In addition, vintage motorbikes and a car were saved from the garage.
Neighboring homes were safeguarded by firefighters equipped with breathing apparatus, preventing the fire from spreading further.
Multiple Fire and Rescue NSW stations were involved in the operation, including:

- 373 East Maitland
- 349 Kurri Kurri
- 455 Rutherford
- 462 Mayfield West
- 454 Tarro
- 374 Maitland
NSW Ambulance was also on scene to provide support, but no injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Thanks to the quick actions of Fire and Rescue NSW crews, lives and valuable possessions were saved.
