ALL OTHER NYE ACTIVITIES AT VENUES ARE GOING AHEAD REGAURDLESS OF FIREWORKS

MOST VENUES WILL BE RAISING MONEY TO SUPPORT FIRE SERVICES AND PEOPLE WHO HAVE LOST EVERYTHING IN THESE FIRES.

There seems to be a lot of miss-information around this year’s NYE fireworks displays across the Hunter Valley.

Fireworks are causing mixed emotions from those oppose them to those that wanna light up the night skies.

Only a handful venue have cancelled their fireworks show so far. Fireworks shows are usually exempt from total fire bans. But the RFS and other agencies work together to ensure the safety of these shows and have the authority to cancel any show with no notice.

The following list is every fireworks show in the Hunter Region. Regardless of fireworks NYE celebration and events will continue as normal.

• Crown Plaza Cancelled Money Donated to RFS
• Maitland Hunter River Cancelled
• Harrigan’s 12pm fireworks – CANCELLED
• Hunter Valley Gardens CANCELLED
• Tucker Park Patterson CANCELLED
• Newcastle Foreshore 9pm Fireworks APPROVED TO GO AHEAD

The RFS is pleading with the public not set of their own fireworks this year as the conditions on NYE are going to be severe and illegal firework shows are far more dangerous than shows conducted by professionals.

Using fireworks without a licence risks an on-the-spot fine of up to $2000 with penalties ranging up to $27,500 for displaying fireworks without a licence. Selling or purchasing fireworks without a licence can also result in fines of $27,000 and 12 months jail
