Kitchen Fire Contained at North Lambton Home
Firefighters have contained a house fire at North Lambton this afternoon, preventing the blaze from spreading beyond the kitchen.
Emergency crews from Fire and Rescue NSW Station 357 Lambton and Fire and Rescue NSW Station 462 Mayfield West were called to Andrew Close about 3.25pm on Monday, 25 May 2026, following reports of a house fire.
On arrival, firefighters found smoke issuing from the roof of a single-storey home. Crews entered the property and quickly extinguished the fire, which was located in the kitchen.
Firefighters successfully contained the blaze to the kitchen area; however, the home sustained smoke and water damage.
Investigations into the cause of the fire are underway, with officers from the Newcastle City Police District examining the incident.
Fire authorities are reminding residents that unattended cooking remains the leading cause of house fires in NSW and urge people to stay in the kitchen while cooking and ensure stoves are switched off before leaving the area.
