Machete-Wielding Thugs Spark Major Police Operation After Armed Break-In on Central Coast

Police have charged three males following an alleged armed break-in involving machetes at Avoca Beach yesterday morning.

Brisbane Water Police District, supported by the Police Dog Unit and Traffic and Highway Patrol Command, launched a large-scale coordinated response after reports of three males unlawfully entering a property about 8.30am.

Police will allege the group was armed with machetes before fleeing on foot into nearby bushland and surrounding properties as officers arrived on scene.

A major search operation was immediately launched, resulting in the arrest of two males nearby.

A third male was later arrested following a police pursuit involving a stolen vehicle, which ended in a crash at Terrigal.

One member of the public was treated by NSW Ambulance following the incident.

Two police officers were also injured during the operation — one treated at the scene and another transported to Gosford Hospital for further treatment.

All three males have now been charged with multiple serious offences, including armed with intent to commit indictable offence, aggravated break and enter, participation in a criminal group, and predatory driving offences.

They were refused bail and are due to appear before court today.

Investigations are ongoing.
