Breaking: Man Charged After House Fire Tears Through Lochinvar Home
Lochinvar, NSW – Wednesday 14 January 2026
A 22-year-old man has been charged following a house fire that tore through a Lochinvar home early this morning.
Emergency services were called to St Helena Close at around 1:00am, where Fire and Rescue NSW found the residence fully alight. Firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze, but the house was extensively damaged.
The man was arrested at the scene and taken under police guard to John Hunter Hospital. A male sergeant also suffered smoke inhalation and was treated at the hospital.
Police from the Port Stephens/Hunter District established a crime scene and launched an investigation. Following inquiries, the man was charged with damage to property by fire/explosion.
He was refused bail and is set to appear before Bail Division Court 2 tomorrow, Thursday 15 January.
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fire.
