A man is set to face court today after police discovered a large hydroponic cannabis setup inside a home at Bolton Point, Lake Macquarie.
Around 12.30pm yesterday (Monday 10 November 2025), officers from the Lake Macquarie Proactive Crime Team executed a search warrant at the property as part of an ongoing investigation into the alleged cultivation of cannabis.
During the search, police allegedly located 83 mature cannabis plants growing across five rooms. Electricians called to the scene also identified that the property’s power supply had been illegally re-routed to bypass the electricity meter.
A 60-year-old man was arrested and taken to Toronto Police Station, where he was charged with:
- Divert/use electricity without authority
- Enhanced indoor cultivation of cannabis for a commercial purpose
- Cultivate cannabis (greater than indictable and less than commercial quantity)
He was refused bail and is due to appear before the Bail Division Court 2 today (Tuesday 11 November 2025).
