A 21-year-old man is due to face court today after being charged over the alleged shooting of a woman in Lake Macquarie last week.
Emergency services were called to a home in Charlestown about 9.20pm on Tuesday, 30 June, where a 50-year-old woman was found suffering a gunshot wound to her arm.
Police allege the woman had been shot a short time earlier outside a unit on Paper Street, Gateshead.

An investigation was launched by officers attached to Lake Macquarie Police District, with assistance from the State Crime Command’s Raptor North.
As part of that investigation, police executed a search warrant at a home on South Street, Windale, about 6pm yesterday (Tuesday, 7 July).
During the search, officers allegedly seized a number of items of interest, including ammunition, knuckledusters and electronic devices.
A 21-year-old man was arrested and taken to Belmont Police Station, where he was charged with:
- Discharge firearm with intent to cause grievous bodily harm,
- Fire firearm in a manner likely to injure persons or damage property, and
- Use an unauthorised firearm.
He was refused bail and is scheduled to appear before Bail Division Court 2 today (Wednesday, 8 July).
