In a recent incident reported on Thursday, October 19, 2023, a 23-year-old woman was allegedly subjected to sexual touching in the Redhead area. Following thorough investigations, authorities have apprehended a 31-year-old suspect on Flowers Drive, Catherine Hill Bay, at approximately 3.40 pm on Friday, October 20, 2023.
The apprehended individual is accused of recklessly colliding with a police vehicle, causing severe damage to the rear of the unmarked car, and injuring a female Senior Constable. Subsequently, the suspect attempted to carjack another vehicle, only to be apprehended after resisting arrest.
Charges against the individual include two counts of sexually touching another person without consent, common assault, predatory driving, use of an offensive weapon to prevent lawful detention, and assault with intent to take/drive a motor vehicle.
The suspect was denied bail and is scheduled to appear at Newcastle Local Court on Saturday, October 21, 2023.
